Hans Mikosch (theologian)

Hans August Mikosch (born February 3, 1948 in Eisenach ) is a retired German Protestant theologian and provost .

Mikosch studied Protestant theology at the University of Jena from 1966 to 1972 and was ordained in Eisenach in 1974 . He had his first pastor in Witzleben (Thuringia) ; In 1983 he moved to Gefell in Vogtland . Here he developed a thesis on the history of the Luther Academy in Sondershausen , following which he 1993 in Jena to the Dr. theol. received his doctorate. In the same year he was elected superintendent of the church district Gera.

On February 1, 2002, Mikosch was appointed to the senior church council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia . In addition to his responsibilities in the regional church council, he was responsible as a visitor for the eastern supervisory district of the regional church . When, with the merger of the Thuringian Church with the Evangelical Church of the Ecclesiastical Province of Saxony to form the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM) in 2009, the eastern supervisory district was transformed into the Provost district of Gera-Weimar , he was given the title of Provost or Regional Bishop . At the same time he was deputy to the regional bishop. He retired on December 31, 2011.

Mikosch is married to a theologian and has a son.
