The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia , which existed until 2008, was divided into three supervisory districts South, East and West, which comprised a total of 18 superintendent's offices (also known as ruptures for short ). On January 1, 2009 it merged with the Evangelical Church of the Church Province of Saxony to form the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM).

Superintendent of Arnstadt-Ilmenau

The superintendent is bordered by the following church districts: in the north on Erfurt , in the north-east on Weimar , in the east on Rudolstadt-Saalfeld , in the south on Hildburghausen-Eisfeld , in the south-west on Henneberger Land based in Suhl, in the west on Waltershausen-Ohrdruf and in the north-west to Gotha .

The Superintendentur Arnstadt-Ilmenau was created in 1920 and covers the area of ​​the Ilm district with the exception of the places Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig , Stützerbach , Frauenwald (SI Henneberger Land), Gräfenroda , Geschwenda , Gehlberg , Frankenhain (SI Waltershausen-Ohrdruf), Kirchheim (SI Erfurt) and Herschdorf (SI Rudolstadt). Today the superintendent comprises 25 parishes with approx. 27,000 parishioners.

Superintendent of Bad Salzungen-Dermbach

The Superintendentur Bad Salzungen-Dermbach, which has a very different character, is one of the largest within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia. It comprises 29 parishes with around 35,000 parishioners. The current superintendent is Ulrich Lieberknecht (as of July 2016).

Ulrich Rohmer from Weilar was the chairman of the district synod until 2007 . The two pastors are Helmut Tonndorf ( Schwallungen ) and Gerald Kotsch ( Dermbach ).

Superintendent of Sonneberg

The Evangelical Lutheran Superintendent of Sonneberg is located on the southern slope of the Thuringian Forest and borders on the Superintendent's Hildburghausen-Eisfeld and Rudolstadt-Saalfeld of the Thuringian regional church and the Bayreuth parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria.

Wolfgang Krauss has been the superintendent since 2005.

Superintendent of Altenburger Land

The Altenburger Land superintendent is the easternmost superintendent of the regional church, which borders on the Gera superintendent in the west .

The last superintendent since 2006 was Anne-Kristin Ibrügger . Jörg Dittmar has been the acting superintendent since December 2013 until the appointment was made.

Superintendent Eisenberg

The Eisenberg superintendent is located between Gera and Jena in the area between Elster and Saale and essentially covers the area of ​​the Saale-Holzland district . It comprises 111 parishes in 205 places with currently 31 pastors and 14 employees in the preaching service, who currently (as of 2006) look after around 24,000 parishioners.

Superintendent Gera

In a reorganization of the regional church after the Second World War , the superintendencies Gera-Stadt, Gera-Land and Weida were established. In 1977 the two Gera ruptures were merged, in the course of the structural reform in 1998 the superintendent Gera and Weida were merged to form the new superintendent Gera.

Superintendent of Waltershausen-Ohrdruf
