Brno / Thür. is a municipality in the district of Hildburghausen in Thuringia . Fulfilling municipality for Brno / Thür. is the municipality of Auengrund .

location

Brno is located at the foot of the northeastern roof of the Hildburghausen Forest and on the southern edge of the Thuringian Forest in the midst of agricultural areas. By Brno the creek flows Brünna , who also drives the Brno mill. The A 73 motorway leads past Brno over the Brno viaduct . The state road 3004, a former section of the federal road 4 , runs through the village. State road 1136 branches off from this in the center of the village. The L 3004 serves as a feeder road to the nearby Eisfeld Nord motorway junction .

history

In 1317 the place, which was probably founded by Franconian settlers, was first mentioned in a document in the hall book of Count von Henneberg. During this time he was part of the Eisfeld office in the county of Henneberg .

On September 8, 1875, a major fire in the village destroyed 5 houses with stables and outbuildings. Another fire destroyed 8 houses with 6 barns and ancillary buildings on August 24, 1893. 16 local men died in the First World War. A war memorial was erected in their honor in 1928. In 1886 the place received a train station on the narrow-gauge railway Eisfeld – Schönbrunn .

During the Second World War , 27 young men fell from the place. During this time, 95 women and men, mainly from the Soviet Union , were doing forced labor in the Brno metal weaving mill . From April 8, 1945, Brno was under artillery fire. On April 10, the place was badly devastated by fighting, six residents died in a cellar. From July 1945 the place was in the Soviet zone of occupation.

In 1959 the forced collectivization of agriculture began in Brno. Metal weaving was also nationalized. In 1960 the brewery built in 1808 was torn down. In 1973 the narrow-gauge railway was shut down and dismantled. From 2004 the highway 73 was built near Brno and opened to traffic in 2008.

On November 7, 2015, the long-time mayor Albrecht Oesterlein resigned from office and was ceremoniously bid farewell. He had held the office since 1986. Andreas Brandt became his successor on January 1, 2016.
