Reurieth is a municipality in the district of Hildburghausen in the Franconian south of Thuringia. She belongs to the administrative community Feldstein . The community consists of the place Reurieth and the districts Siegritz and Trostadt .

Reurieth lies on the upper reaches of the Werra , in the village the Zeilbach flows from the left .
history
Reurieth was first mentioned in a document in 1117. During the time of the tribal duchies, the place was in the Duchy of Franconia . In terms of lordship, the place in the Themar office initially belonged to the county of Henneberg , after 1583 to various Saxon duchies and from 1826 to 1918 to Saxony-Meiningen . In 1920 he came to the state of Thuringia .
The castle ruins of the Lords of Reurieth, mentioned in a document in 1171, stand on the edge of the village near the church. The Counts of Henneberg later owned the castle, which was destroyed in the Peasants' War. The Lords of Heldburg rebuilt it, but it has been in ruins since the 19th century. The north tower and remains of the surrounding wall are still standing.
During the Thirty Years War, the place was partially destroyed by marauding soldiers in 1634.
