history

The administrative community was founded on November 25, 1993. It is named after the 552 meter high Feldstein mountain west of Lengfeld. As part of the Thuringia regional reform in 2018 and 2019 , the administrative community was expanded on January 1, 2019 to include the city of Themar , which has not previously been part of the VG .
