Keulrod is a district of Bischofrod in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

location

Keulrod is located on the eastern edge of the so-called Small Thuringian Forest, which is customary for the location . The village has traffic connections via the country road 2634 down to Bischofrod and Lengfeld . The demarcation is strongly cropped and particularly well suited for recreational sports.

history

The village was first mentioned on June 5, 1438. Keulrod was a small forest village until the Thirty Years War . It was devastated in 1634. The citizens couldn't rebuild it. The Schleusinger rent master Paul Kaden is committed to the development and founded a manor , which he also ran. In 1712 the estate passed to the Heym family, who used it for agriculture. In 1868 the property was bought by Victor Weiß, who changed it considerably. He even reforested arable land.

Until 1815, the place belonged to the Henneberg or Electoral Saxon office Schleusingen and then came to the Schleusingen district of the newly formed Prussian province of Saxony , where it remained until 1945. In 1927 a law in Prussia, which included the surrounding area, decided to dissolve the property. On December 1, 1928 Keulrod and Bischofrod became one municipality. After the fall of the Wall in 1990, there were again two farm managers in the village. The manor was renovated and in 2007 it was again a manor.
