Church in Reurieth

The listed Evangelical Lutheran village church Reurieth is located in the municipality of Reurieth on a hill next to a castle ruin and surrounded by a small cemetery in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

The exact construction time of the church, one of the oldest in the area, is not known. A folk priest is mentioned in a document in 1287 .

The wooden ceiling in the nave from 1596 is an art-historical specialty. It is painted with symbols , coats of arms , ornaments and arabesques of Christian art and has been preserved in its original state.

The cross vault in the chancel was painted over in white around 1900. The former painting was exposed during a renovation in 1934. Paintings of Christian art came to light whose chronological classification is still to come.

The organ was created in 1878 by the organ builder Theodor Kühn from Schmiedefeld.

A memorial plaque for the court organist Johann Zacharias Franck , who was born there in 1686, is attached to the church.
