Jägersdorf is a district of the municipality of Schöps in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

geography

Jägersdorf is located in and on the river Saale. To the west the Saale flows to Jena and to the west of the bank of the Saale runs the Großheringen – Saalfeld railway line ( Saalbahn ). The heavily trafficked federal road 88 follows immediately afterwards . To the east of the district forest follows on the slopes and hills.

history

The village was first mentioned on November 28, 1228. Jägersdorf and Schöps benefit from their proximity to Jena as a business location. The place itself was and is characterized by agriculture. The depot of the Agrargenossenschaft eG, formed after the fall of the Wall , is located in Schöps. There is a timber market and a real estate office.

The former Schöps-Jägersdorf hydropower plant was reactivated after the fall of the Wall.

In September 2003 the village church burned down to the outer walls. It was rebuilt without any galleries.

The old residential building of a manor in the village was demolished in the 1970s.
