The church

The Jägersdorf village church is located in the Jägersdorf district of the Schöps community in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

location

The highly visible church is located on an elevated floor of the east Saaleaue at the entrance of an elongated valley meadows and forests. To get to Bundesstraße 88 , the Saale has to be crossed over a bridge and the following, heavily used railway line Berlin - Munich .

history

Jägersdorf was first mentioned in a document on November 28, 1228. Presumably the place had a church building around this time. It was not until 1713 that the dilapidated church was verifiably discussed. At this time the new building took place. The construction is said to have only lasted a quarter of a year.

On September 17, 2002, the Jägersdorf church burned down as a result of an accident, except for the bells that had been removed the day before. The work to rebuild the Jägersdorfer Church came to a close on September 16, 2010 with the crowning organ consecration.
