Quittelsdorf is a district of the town of Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The place is on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest, 300 m above sea level on both sides of the river Rinne. The mountains and steeper slopes are forested and the valleys are mostly overgrown with grassland. The red sandstone weathered soils predominate.

history

The monastery-owned village was first mentioned in a document on February 1, 1275. The construction of a railway from Arnstadt to Saalfeld through the Quittelsdorf corridor began in 1885 and a stop was built in Leutnitz, which was closed in December 2011 due to low passenger numbers. Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Leutnitz was incorporated.
