Milbitz is a district of the town of Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The place is on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest at an altitude between 305 and 350 m above sea level. The place is a street village along the road to Stadtilm .

history

The village was owned by the Paulinzella monastery and was first mentioned in 1196-1210. A Milbitzer Johann V. Schmidt was the 27th and last abbot from 1528 until the abolition of the Paulinzella monastery. Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .
