Alfons Gassner

Alfons Gaßner (born December 7, 1923 in Gerzen ; † September 23, 2001 in Munich ) was a German politician ( BP , CSU ).

Life and work

Gaßner, who was a Roman Catholic , passed his secondary school diploma in 1942 and then took part in World War II as a soldier . He was wounded and taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was able to escape. On April 28, 1945 he took part in activities of the Bavarian Freedom Campaign. In 1946 he made up the regular Abitur and began studying law at the University of Munich , which he completed in 1950. From 1952 to 1963 he worked as an advertising manager in the industry before moving to the state lottery administration. In February 1968, he moved to an insurance company as an organizational representative for the Lower Bavaria region.

Gaßner was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.

Gaßner belonged to the CSU from 1945 to 1947 and then joined the Bavarian Party , whose district chairman in Lower Bavaria he was from 1958 to 1966. From 1961 he was deputy state chairman. On July 12, 1966, he resigned from the Bavarian Party and returned to the CSU.

From 1950 to 1966 and from 1969, when he replaced Karl Fuchs , who had been elected to the German Bundestag , until 1974, he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . The state parliament elected him a member of the federal assemblies in 1949, 1954, 1959 and 1969. From 1952 to 1966 he was a member of the district council in the Vilshofen district . Originally elected for the Bavarian party, he joined the CSU parliamentary group when he changed party in July 1966.

From May 21, 1971 to 1974 he was also a judge at the Bavarian Constitutional Court .
