Karl Fuchs (politician, 1920)

Karl Fuchs (born September 11, 1920 in Empertsreut , † March 31, 1989 in Passau ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1939 at the humanistic grammar school in Passau, Fuchs was drafted into the Wehrmacht and participated in the Second World War as a soldier until 1943 . He then studied philosophy, German, history, Latin and Greek in Munich , Vienna and Erlangen . He passed the first state examination in 1948, completed his training in 1949 with the second state examination for higher teaching qualifications and with the doctorate to become a Dr. phil. and then entered the school service as a teacher. First he worked as a grammar school teacher in Weiden and from 1952 to 1969 in the same position at the humanistic grammar school in Passau, since 1965 as senior teacher.

Political party

Fuchs joined the CSU and was district chairman of the CSU Passau-Land from 1963 to 1972. He then became the deputy district chairman of the CSU Lower Bavaria .

From 1960 to 1972, Fuchs was a member of the council of the community of Grubweg , from 1966 to 1972 a member of the district council in the district of Passau , from 1972 to 1974 council member of the city of Passau and from 1966 to 1969 a member of the Bavarian state parliament .

He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1980. In the 1969 Bundestag election he entered parliament via the CSU Bavarian state list . In the seventh and eighth electoral terms, from 1972 to 1980, he represented the Passau constituency as a direct candidate . From 1977 to 1984 he was a member of the European Parliament .
