Barigau is a district of the city of Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district ( Thuringia ).

Barigau is located on a low forest plateau between the Schwarzatal in the south and the Rinnetal in the north. The Hädderbach rises at the 665 meter high Barigauer Höhe and flows through Oberhain towards the Schwarza . In terms of traffic, Barigau has a connection to the federal highway 88 via the county road .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document on November 19, 1370. In addition to agriculture and mining, the olive industry was also an important economic factor here. The Barigauer Tower stands on the Barigauer Höhe . Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .
On July 1, 1950, Barigau was incorporated into Oberhain. The place has been part of the city of Königsee since January 1, 2019.
