Location of Oberhain in Thuringia |
Oberhain (locally "Hahne") is a district of the city of Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district ( Thuringia ).
geography
Oberhain and its districts are located on a low-forest plateau between the Schwarzatal in the south and the Rinnetal in the north. Oberhain is located on the Hädderbach , which rises to the west at the 665 meter high Barigauer Höhe and east of the town flows into the Schwarza.
Between Oberhain, Barigau and Lichta was the Tanndorf desert , which seems to have been destroyed in the Saxon civil war as early as 1447 .
history
Oberhain was first mentioned in a document in 1370 as Obirn Hayn . In the past, mining was particularly popular. In Oberhain, for example, there was the Güldene Kirche mine , in today's Mankenbach district there was an ironworks, and in Unterhain, in particular, the haulage gained importance. In the 19th century, the oil trade was an important line of business in the towns. Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities Barigau, Mankenbach and Unterhain were incorporated.
On January 1, 2019, Oberhain was incorporated into the neighboring town of Königsee .
