The Protestant village church of St. Lukas Oberhain is located in the Oberhain district of the city of Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

history

The clapboard-covered chapel in Oberhain was first mentioned in a document in 1521. It was later covered with slate . The small church was rebuilt and enlarged several times, it was a branch of the parish village Allendorf . After the Allendorf rectory was completed , funds were available for Oberhain in 1745 so that the dilapidated church could be renovated. This church was built in 1745–1751 in the style of the peasant baroque , in the course of its completion the old overbuilt church building inside the new church was demolished.

The pulpit altar was inaugurated on October 17, 1750. The painting with biblical motifs on the galleries and on the ceiling barrel dates from this time.

The steeple was completed in 1747. The Allendorf pastor Holzhey had donated the restored baptismal frame as early as 1709.

The Schulze organ from 1864 is playable.

Around 1980 the church was infested with sponge. The renovation work began in 1988 and has not yet been completed. Floors, chairs, stairs, galleries and ceiling beams have to be torn down.

For the 250th anniversary in October 2000, the church was named St. Luke.

The wooden vestibule at the entrance to the cemetery is intended as protection from the weather for visitors to neighboring communities.
