history

The place Triebes was first mentioned in 1209 in connection with a Bertoldus de Tributz (Berthold von Triebes) and goes back to a Sorbian foundation. The Teichmühle once belonged to the manor . This was first mentioned in a document in 1533. Already at this time the Teichmühle existed as a grinding and cutting mill, because there were farmers and residents. The last owner died in 1946 at the age of 55. He did not have a male heir. This ended the 200-year line of succession. During the GDR era, a tire trade and vulcanization workshop was set up in the old walls. Now a master plumber is settled there. As early as 1555 tax lists recorded the sand miller Adam Burkhardt as the owner of the sand mill . In 1910 the milling operation was stopped. The sawmill worked for some time until the buildings were expanded with apartments. In 1999 the old sand mill and the furniture factory were demolished. A beautification of the fallow area is planned. Around 1700 the small settlement developed into a weaving village. In 1870 there were more than 300 independent master weavers based in Triebes. At the instigation of the Reuss princes Heinrich XIV. Was established in 1875, Gera jute founded -Spinnerei and -weaving. Triebes thus gained considerably in economic importance. In 1912 1,500 people worked in the jute . In 1919 Triebes was granted city rights.

During this period, the further industrialization of Triebes, the foundation stone of the paint factory was laid on April 2, 1873: "Friedrich Pratz & Co. paint factory". The slate on the crane turned black and the clay pit near the cemetery turned ocher. On July 7th, 1881 the paint factory changed its name to: "CG Fehre-Farbenfabrik, Triebes". In 1884 the son, Friedrich Fehre, took over the company and expanded the color spectrum to include chrome ocher and chrome orange. Due to the poor profitability, new donors were sought and the company was renamed again in 1890 to: “Triebeser Farbenwerke CG Fehre Nachf.” In 1893, Dr. Wohlberedt, coming from Dresden, joined the company as a partner. He knew how to make the company profitable. In 1897 he set up the first power station in Central Germany. Triebes' entire electrical energy requirement was covered by a steam engine. On January 29, 1901, Dr. Wohlberedt and Dr. Peters founded the "AG Lithoponefabrikation , Triebes". In 1905 the typical brick building was erected at Bahnhofstrasse 2. In 1927 the majority of the shares were taken over by Sachtleben AG and IG Farben . In 1933 Dr. Wohlberedt, member of the supervisory board of Lithopone AG, made an honorary citizen of Triebes. In 1937 the time of color production ended in Triebes. Lithopone AG relocated the entire production to Wünschendorf / Elster .

In April 1945 Triebes was occupied by US Army soldiers, who were followed by the Red Army at the end of June . In June 1946, seven young people between the ages of 16 and 20 from the Greizer Oberland were shot by the Soviet security service NKVD in the Metschwald near Triebes and their bodies were buried. They were accused of " werewolf " activity.

The industrial building of Lithopone AG - made of red bricks - in Bahnhofstrasse, which is already part of the cityscape, was taken over in 1937 by Fritz Sachs and Ing.Hermann Grimm to establish a machine tool factory. The company: "Sachs & Grimm, Triebes" was founded.

The main products were hydraulic presses , preferably hydraulic single column presses . The products were exported all over the world under the brand name - HYDRAUMA. In addition to the main production, hydraulic broaching machines, pumps and hydr. Manufacture of control units for excavators, truck cranes and slipways for shipyards. 1954 - After Fritz Sachs left and after his death, the company was placed under state trust and traded under: Hermann Grimm Triebes. 1956 - On July 1, 1956, an impressive stake of initially 50% was taken, the former stake of Fritz Sachs. The industrial and commercial bank acted as general partner . 1958 - Hermann Grimm was elected to the People's Chamber of the GDR for one term by the LDPD faction .

1959 - VEB Wema Zeulenroda joined as general partner. Wema Zeulenroda was the “lead company” within the framework of the product group work on the part of VVB WMW , Karl-Marx-Stadt. 1960 - The limited partnership: "Hermann Grimm KG Triebes" was founded. 1970 - Together, but under the design leadership of Wema Zeulenroda, a structurally uniform series of hydraulic single-column presses was developed. (PYE-N, PYE-S / 1, PYE-SS). The HYDRAUMA LOGO, which had been in effect until then, was no longer used. 1971 - After the departure of the limited partner, Hermann Grimm, the company was converted into public property as part of the socialist reorganization and was now called "VEB Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Triebes". 1976 - The company was now gradually integrated into the assembly production for the PYE series, ie it lost its status as a final producer and acted purely as a supplier for VEB Wema Zeulenroda. 1980 - The company was taken over as Plant IV by VEB Wema Zeulenroda. 1992 - Plant IV was closed and sold to "MAT-Transier". This marked the end of the era of machine tool construction in Triebes.

Mehla was incorporated on April 6, 1994. Dörtendorf followed on April 1, 1999 . On February 1, 2006, Zeulenroda and Triebes merged to form the new twin town of Zeulenroda-Triebes. The merger came about through the dissolution of the city of Triebes and its incorporation into Zeulenroda.

2011 - The property of "MAT-Transier" was purchased by the AWO (Arbeiterwohlfahrt-Soziale Dienst-Zeulenroda GmbH). An object with barrier-free and handicapped accessible apartments was created here.

coat of arms

Coat of arms 1975–1994.

From 1975 to 1994 Triebes wore the coat of arms shown on the right, which was replaced in 1994 by the coat of arms shown in the info box. The official description of the current coat of arms reads: "In gold a black lion's paw with red claws, which holds a red Passion Cross shifted to the right made of four jute cords braided in the middle."

The lion's paw as a symbol of power results from the importance of the landgraves in Thuringian history. The lion is taken from the family arms of the Princes of Reuss , whose Reuss-Köstritz family branch had owned Triebes since 1681. The four jute cords intertwined like a cross refer to the formerly important jute spinning and weaving mill.

Songs

The song collection includes the specially written drive song by Otto Patzer. The lyrics describe the history of the city, from the beginnings and the development of the weaving mill (later the jute mill, with the chimneys that existed at the time, which exported the goods to America, the Nile region, Java and Sumatra, among others), about the Districts Kranich and Tscherlich up to the residents (this passage probably refers to the time when the farmers still had to do their labor - “A Völklein good, full of singing joy, always hospitable and cheerful, that's how the Triebser people are indeed, if poor in good also unfortunately. ")

Another regionally known song is the Thuringia song.
