Weckersdorf is a district of the town of Zeulenroda-Triebes in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

location

Weckersdorf is located on the southern edge of the district about 20 kilometers (as the crow flies ) west of the district town of Greiz and six kilometers southwest of the core town of Zeulenroda . The highest point is the Grünberg ( 463.8  m above sea level ) on the southern edge of the district. The Grüngut district is located on a plateau south of the village . The village is located in the valley of the Weida on the federal road 94 .

history

The oldest written mention of the place comes from 1377 as Wickersdorf . In 1616 some men capable of military service were supposed to stand in Weckersdorf. The advertisers from Schleiz identified three men as millers . Accordingly, there were three mills in Weckersdorf:

  • The Reissigmühle had cutting, bone and grinding gear with a bakery. This property was sold to the Scheibe family on March 27, 1886 for 15,000 marks. It is interesting that the Mühlgraben led directly through the courtyard past the front door.
  • The lower mill was first mentioned in a document in 1596 when it was built. The miller ground and crushed grain, cut wood and had two water wheels for this purpose.
  • The Upper Mill once existed. It was on the forest stream right next to the bridge. It was demolished after 1947 because it was in disrepair. There was nothing left.

On May 1, 1994 Weckersdorf became a district of Zeulenroda. About 215 people live in the village today.

Culture and sights

The location spreads over the southern bank of the river. A dozen small ponds can be found along the Weida. The village church with cemetery is in the center of the village, the Reißigsmühle about one kilometer east of the village on the Weida. The Diez'sche Haus is also worth seeing , it was built around 1780/90 in the style of Franconian half-timbered houses.
