Herrmannsgrün is a district of the rural community Mohlsdorf-Teichwolframsdorf in the Greiz district in Thuringia .

geography

Herrmannsgrün is originally a row village that was west of Mohlsdorf . In the meantime the place has grown together with Mohlsdorf. The border between the two places runs in front of today's municipal office, which belongs to Herrmannsgrün, to the lower end of Goethestrasse.

Surname

The name Herrmannsgrün was given by the owners of the manor of Herrmannsgrün near Adorf / Vogtl. transfer. The name has practically disappeared from today's usage. The inhabitants call themselves Mohlsdorfer. The place-name signs are labeled accordingly (see picture at the entrance to the town). The exception is the "Kirchgemeinde Herrmannsgrün zu Mohlsdorf", which bears this name since the two villages merged.

history

The village of Herrmannsgrün was first mentioned in a document on March 15, 1315.

On October 1, 1922, Herrmannsgrün was incorporated into Mohlsdorf together with Reudnitz . ¹ Herrmannsgrün was the largest town in terms of both area and population. The name Mohlsdorf was chosen because there was already a train station and a post office with this name.

¹ Reudnitz was again ausgemeindet on August 1, 1924

Economy and Infrastructure

There are some public facilities in Herrmannsgrün: municipal office, combined school and kindergarten building, building yard, fire station of the Mohlsdorf volunteer fire brigade.

Once there was a manor , today there are several agricultural companies.

On Raasdorfer Straße there is an industrial area with a car dealer, a car repair shop, a paint shop, a plastics manufacturer, a joinery and a hotel.

In addition, there are smaller craft and retail companies as well as a horticultural company.

The place can only be reached via district and municipal roads. There is no railway connection. The nearest train station was until 1997 in Mohlsdorf on the Neumark – Greiz railway line . Today it is Greiz station on the Elstertalbahn .
