Location of Pohlitz in the city of Greiz

Pohlitz is a district of Greiz in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

location

Pohlitz is located northeast of the center of Greiz on the plateau of the Elstertal . In the west is the Raasdorf district of Greiz , and Herrenreuth in the northeast . In the north, the Greiz-Werurance forest joins.

history

Pohlitz was first mentioned in 1394 and is probably of Slavic origin. It used to be called " Pohlentz ". The place is densely built up and is grouped around two large green areas that used to be five ponds. These were used as a fire fighting pond and for carp breeding. The connecting road to Greiz was continuously built at the end of the 19th century. In 1921 Pohlitz was then incorporated into Greiz. At that time the place had several thousand inhabitants.

From around 1950 to 1985, numerous new building projects were carried out on Pohlitzer Flur in order to cope with the housing shortage in the GDR . So initially a few blocks of flats on the connecting road to Greiz were realized. From 1958, a new building area was built on Dr.-Otto-Nuschke-Straße, which connected directly to the east and south-east of the village. This project was completed in 1969. From 1976 onwards, the fields between Pohlitz and the Reissberg were cultivated with blocks of flats. A total of around 2000 apartments were built here as part of the GDR's housing program . From 1980, the "Zaschberg" residential area was also built in the northwest of Pohlitz.

According to the Greiz urban development concept, the new building areas Reißberg-Pohlitz and Zaschberg should be completely demolished from 2003 to 2020. However, the majority of the apartment blocks still exist and are inhabited today. The area around Dr.-Otto-Nuschke-Straße is to be preserved in the long term. Most of the apartment blocks there have been renovated.

traffic

Pohlitz is connected to the city center via Pohlitzer Strasse (formerly Greizer Strasse). The Gerhart-Hauptmann-Strasse leading out of the village to the east was built with the reissue mountain-Pohlitz area and also leads to Greiz. Other roads lead to Raasdorf in the east and to Waldhaus in the north.

In local public transport , Pohlitz is connected to Greiz city center by bus line 6 from PRG Greiz every quarter of an hour. These buses continue from there to Elsterberg .
