The Kupferhammer is a single settlement of the city of Greiz in the district of Greiz in Thuringia . Politically, the Kupferhammer belongs to the inner city of Greiz and not to a special district.

location

The Kupferhammer is located northwest of the city center of Greiz and the Laagweg on the right bank of the White Elster in the middle of the Greiz-Werurance forest . Neumühle / Elster lies in the north and west on the heights of the Elstertal the Greiz district of Gommla . The Gera Süd – Weischlitz railway line and the L 2344 run past the slope .

history

A copper hammer mill originally stood on the site of the current building . An industrial building was later erected there, which today is used for paper processing and produces industrial sleeves.

To the north of the copper hammer, a mechanical sewage treatment plant was built for the Greiz urban area as early as 1937 . In 1998 a new, fully biological sewage treatment plant was put into operation at the same location. The facility is known locally as "Am Kupferhammer".
