The Lehnamühle is a hamlet in the Neumühle / Elster district of the city of Greiz in the Greiz district in Thuringia .

location

The Lehnamühle is located in the valley of the White Elster , which is widened in the settlement area by a tributary. Neumühle is to the south, Tschirma and Neugernsdorf to the west. To the east, Waltersdorf lies on the plateau on the opposite side of the river.

history

The first documentary mention of this mill was registered on May 23, 1449.

Until the beginning of the 20th century, the settlement consisted only of the actual Lehnamühle. In 1901 the mill was converted into a wood grinding shop and shortly thereafter converted into a cardboard factory. Before World War II, the factory was the largest manufacturer of shoe and suitcase cardboard in Europe. At the beginning of the 1990s, operations were stopped. In the following years most of the factory facilities were demolished.

The hamlet originally belonged to the Tschirma community . With the formation of the community Neumühle / Elster on January 1, 1960, it became a district of the same. On December 31, 2019, the Neumühle / Elster community was incorporated into Greiz, whereby the Lehnamühle also came to Greiz.

traffic

The Lehnamühle can be reached via the county road 208 from Wildenaube to Neumühle. The Gera Süd – Weischlitz railway runs through the village without a stop. Lines 20 and 21 of PRG Greiz serve the Lehnamühle in school traffic and connect it with Berga / Elster , Greiz and Neumühle.
