Location of the national border in the city of Greiz

The state border is a settlement in the Cossengrün / Hohndorf / Schönbach district of the city of Greiz in the Greiz district in Thuringia . The hamlet belongs to the Hohndorf district .

Location and name

The state border is at the intersection of federal highway 92 with L 2342 and K 202 and at the confluence of the Rumpelbach and the Triebitzbach. Hohndorf is north and Elsterberg is east of the settlement. The Steinermühle settlement, which is also part of the Hohndorf district , is located upstream of the Triebitzbach in the west.

The name of the settlement results from the fact that it is only a few meters away from the border with Saxony . The B 92 runs here for about 350 meters above Thuringian soil and has an important junction for the area.

history

In the settlement is the inn "Zur Landesgrenze". The settlement area also includes mainly single-family houses on the L 2342.

The state border used to belong to the municipality of Hohndorf, which in 1997 became part of the new municipality of the Vogtland Oberland . This dissolved on December 31, 2012, whereupon the settlement came to the city of Greiz.
