Sachswitz is located in the southern floodplain of the river Weisse Elster in Greiz and on the federal road 92 south of Dölau and opposite the Greiz-Dölau reservoir . The Greiz- Elsterberg railway line also passes and the 1296 state road to Elsterberg also reaches the district.

history

The village was first mentioned on February 27, 1380. The place was divided into a Reussian or Thuringian part (to Reuss-Greiz ) and a Saxon part (to the Plauen office or to the Plauen administrative authority ). In 1928 the Saxon part came to Thuringia as a result of an exchange of territory and was combined with the Thuringian part.
