history

The crab mill was built in the middle of the 16th century and included a farm. It was in operation until 1982, at the end of which some farmers were still grinding meal. In 1996 the building was taken over by a community of young organic farmers.

The Krellenschenke (also Grellenschenke ) is located in the immediate vicinity of the Krebsmühle . A restaurant was mentioned here as early as 1716. The building, which is now a listed building, was built in 1753.

Originally the area belonged to the municipality of Waltersdorf . With the formation of the Neumühle / Elster community on January 1, 1960, the mill became part of the same. On December 31, 2019, the Neumühle / Elster community was incorporated into Greiz, which means that the Krebsmühle also came to Greiz.
