Rothenthal is a place of district Sachs joke / Dölau / Rothenthal of Greiz in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

location

Rothenthal is located on the southern outskirts, on the left bank of the White Elster . The bend in the river, known as the Elsterknie , limited the settlement area to a few hectares in the valley floodplain. The opposite bank of the river is a steep wooded slope interspersed with rocks. The federal road 92 connects the district with the city center. A tunnel and two bridges over the White Elster were built for the railway just west of the Rothenthal location. The closest stop is in Dölau, 500 m south .
