Leiningen is a scattered settlement in the district of Cossengrün / Hohndorf / Schönbach in the city of Greiz in the Greiz district in Thuringia . Until December 31, 2012 it belonged to the municipality of Vogtland Oberland .

location

The localities in the vicinity of Elsterberg include Leiningen, Hohndorf , Gablau and Wellsdorf as well as other districts . Leiningen can be reached via the state road 2342 and a local connecting road . The district of the hamlet lies in the Thuringian Slate Mountains in the Vogtland Oberland. The Pöllwitzer Forest borders to the northwest .

history

1529 was the first documentary mention of the hamlet. In 1864, Leiningen had 29 houses in which 138 people lived.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality Gablau was incorporated. Leiningen itself came to Hohndorf in 1994, which in 1999 merged with some other places to form the Vogtland Oberland municipality . On December 31, 2012 this was split up, so that Leiningen came to Greiz.

The hamlet was and is characterized by agriculture and tourism.
