The Neuhammer is a single settlement in the Neumühle / Elster district of the city of Greiz in the Greiz district in Thuringia .

location

The Neuhammer lies alone in the valley of the White Elster on the sliding slope of a river loop . Neumühle is to the north, Greiz to the south and the Bretmühle to the east. The homestead is surrounded by the Greiz-Werurance forest .

history

The Neuhammer was built around 1550 as a hammer mill . It was propelled by the water of the White Elster. The building was later used as a farmhouse, which was licensed to brew and drink . In 1778 the farm became the property of the Schröder family, who are still based there today.

The building originally belonged to the Nitschareuth community . With the formation of the community Neumühle / Elster on January 1, 1960, it became a district of the same. On December 31, 2019, the municipality of Neumühle / Elster was incorporated into Greiz, whereby the Neuhammer also came to Greiz.

The Neuhammer is connected to the regional transport network via an unpaved road. This flows east into the L 2344 from Greiz to Knottengrund . The Gera Süd – Weischlitz railway line is crossed.
