Seubtendorf is a district of the town of Tanna in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

Geography and geology

By widening the federal motorway 9 to six lanes, the town of Seubtendorf is located to the east very close to the federal motorway 9 in a basin and is protected by a new earth wall. The corridor is severely disturbed by the motorway. The valley basin of Seubtendorf is surrounded by wooded heights of up to 600 m. To the north, federal road 2 leads past the neighboring village of Schilbach, which has a positive effect on the transport connection. From a geological point of view, the area of the district lies in the southeast Thuringian slate mountains. To the east of Seubtendorf, the Rosenbühl extends as the highest elevation in the area with its extensive forest areas.

Neighboring places

Neighboring towns are Göttengrün and Blintendorf to the south, Langgrün to the south-west, Schilbach to the north and Künsdorf to the west, separated by the federal motorway .

history

The place was first mentioned on August 6, 1354. The village church Seubtendorf was built in the 13th century. On October 9, 1806, 5 days before the battle of Jena and Auerstedt , 27 plundering Bavarian soldiers of the French troops and farmers from Seubtendorf, Langgrün, Künsdorf and Schilbach took part in the " Seubtendorfer Battle ". 15 soldiers were killed or drowned, 11 captured, one escaped. The next day 1000 Bavarian soldiers with 2 cannons came to Langgrün and Seubtendorf for punishment. Langgrün broke with money and was looted, Seubtendorf was set on fire. 12 houses burned down. In 1815 the Schilbach farmer Eckner went to Vienna and presented the matter to the Bavarian King. Each of the two damaged villages received 700 thalers in compensation. The leader of the Bavarian troops was punished. On January 1, 1997 Seubtendorf was incorporated into Tanna.

economy

The once rural place is increasingly taking on the form of a housing estate. But there are also some commercial companies that shape the village. Until the fall of the Berlin Wall, the economy was dominated by the development of East Germany. After the German reunification, the LPG "Heimatscholle" became a corporation.
