Schilbach is a district of the town of Tanna in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

Geography and geology

The federal highway 9 grazes southwest and leads partially through the corridor of the place. To the north-east are Bundesstraße 2 and the industrial area at the chapel. To the north and south, forest bounds the corridor, which is located on a south-sloping hillside in the southeast Thuringian slate mountains . Neighboring towns are south Seubtendorf , west Wernsdorf , north Zollgrün and east the city of Tanna. To the southeast of Schilbach, the Rosenbühl extends as the highest elevation in the area with its extensive forest areas.

history

Schilbach was first mentioned in a document on August 14, 1325. The church was built in 1732. About 300 people currently live in the village. On April 9, 1994, Schilbach was incorporated into Tanna.

Agriculture

Schilbach has always been an agriculturally oriented place. The former manor under Reinhold Knoch managed 469 hectares in 1923 . The forced collectivization of agriculture in the area during the GDR era led to the construction of a large cattle facility.
