Rothenacker is a district of the town of Tanna in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

Geography and geology

Rothenacker with its incorporated villages Willersdorf and Ebersberg has 325 inhabitants. The places are located in the triangle of Saxony-Thuringia-Bavaria in the southeast Thuringian slate mountains between 520 and 630 m above sea level east of the Rosenbühl . These soils are very fertile due to their high proportion of fine soil and humus content . The long-term mean precipitation is 770 mm. The Tanna forest area shields the areas of the villages. The federal highway 2 is easily accessible and one of the main traffic arteries next to the regional road 1093 in the area as a feeder to the federal highway 9 and the federal highway 72 .

history

Rothenacker was first mentioned in a document in 1402. The place was and is characterized by agriculture.

In 1894 marble quarrying began in the district. In 1961 a family was forcibly resettled by the GDR authorities .

With the establishment of the Nicolaus Schmidt goods management company on October 29, 1991, 128 shareholders embarked on a new path for the agricultural association. The old structure of agriculture after 1952 was dissolved. This estate management is the largest employer in town. There is a cash compensation upon leaving. The focus is on dairy farming, market crops and biogas production with 21 workers.
