Göttengrün is a district of the unified municipality of the town of Gefell in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

geography

The district of Göttengrün is flanked to the west by Federal Motorway 9 . The gentle high plateau is framed to the southeast and northwest by forests and loose woodland. To the east of the village lies the Rosenbühl, the highest point in the Thuringian Vogtland. The former federal highway 2 (now L3002) from Gera to Hof grazes the corridor north and is easily accessible from the village. The village was founded in two loose rows of houses around the pond.

Neighboring towns are: Blintendorf , Schilbach , Tanna (town), Gefell (town) and Dobareuth .

With the lines 710, 155 and 163 of the KomBus transport company , Göttengrün has connections to the core town of Gefell and to the towns of Schleiz , Hirschberg (Saale) , Hof (Saale) , Tanna and Plauen .

geology

Geologically, the Göttengrün corridor is a typical location in the Southeast Thuringian Slate Mountains . These soils are very fertile due to the high proportion of fine soil and humus content. Spring troughs and narrow valley areas of the brooks are typical grassland locations. Agriculture is favored on plateau-like ridges, undulating plains and flat slopes. In other locations, forest use predominates.

history

The first documentary mention of Göttengrün took place on March 8, 1355.

In 1882 the Schönberg – Hirschberg / Saale railway line was built with a train station and goods handling facility in Göttengrün. Hikers and holiday guests visited the Schleizer Oberland. The Second World War and the subsequent border measures brought travel to a standstill. In the meantime, rail operations have ceased. At that time a small settlement was formed around the station. From 1963 to 1991 there was a barracks of the GDR border troops in Göttengrün. Now smaller companies are based there.

economy

The village is still characterized by agriculture.
