Geography and geology
The hamlet with its four farmsteads is located about 800 m southeast of Gebersreuth . Further neighboring towns are south of Münchenreuth in Bavaria , north of Haidefeld and east of Grobau in Saxony .
After the Second World War and until the reunification of the two German states, the hamlet lay directly on the inner-German border . The farmsteads are located in a hollow of the south-east Thuringian slate mountains and are flanked by forest to the east and west. In terms of traffic, there is a connection via local connecting routes to Landesstraße 1098 with a connection to Bundesstraße 2 and to federal highways 9 , 93 and 72 . The location of the hamlet was once determined by its location to the fields and meadows.
