particularities highest mountain in the Thuringian Vogtland

The Rosenbühl is a mountain in the Vogtland in southeast Thuringia , located between Tanna in the north and Gefell in the south, near the border triangle of Saxony and Bavaria . It is the highest mountain in the Thuringian Vogtland and in the entire east of the Saale part of the state.

The Rosenbühl is located in the district of Tanna , about three kilometers south of the city and has an extensive forest. Other neighboring places are Gefell in the south, Göttengrün in the west and Rothenacker in the east. The forest is made accessible by many hiking trails, although the mountain top is not particularly marked and the surroundings are barely noticeable. The difference in altitude to the surrounding places is only about 100 meters.

Several rivers have their source at Rosenbühl, namely the Wisenta in the east, the Erlichbach in the south, the Hetschenbach / Lehestenbach in the west and the Wettera in the north, all tributaries of the Saale. The road from Schleiz to Hof (former federal road 2 ) and the Schönberg – Hirschberg railway line also run through the Rosenbühler Forest .
