Oberkoskau is a district of the city of Tanna in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
geography
About 6 km east of Tanna, near the Wisenta River and the Saxon and Bavarian borders, is Oberkoskau. The district of the hamlet belongs to the southeast Thuringian slate mountains . These soils have a high proportion of fine earth and humus content . Coupled with the climatic conditions, these soils are productive. There are good access to the A 9 and A 72 via the B 2 and B 282 and the Landesstraße 1089 .
history
On August 24, 1325, the hamlet , which emerged from a manor , was first mentioned in a document.
In 1494 Oberkoskau received the sovereign brewing privilege. The document says:
"... according to which the village of Koßka is given the right to brew, malt and serve beer as much as it wants at perpetual tide."
On January 1st 1974 Oberkoskau was incorporated into Unterkoskau. During the GDR era , the hamlet was in the border area. 75 people currently live in the village.
