Neusitz is a district of the municipality of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

Geography and geology

Neusitz is the easternmost place on the Kochberg high plateau. It lies 300 m above sea level on red sandstone and covered with shell limestone . Therefore, the soils are locations remote from the groundwater. From Kirchhasel you can reach the settlement in the upper Hirschgrund on the district road 18 with a connection to the state road 2391 to the federal road 85 .

history

Neusitz was first mentioned in a document on February 17, 1140 as Nuwesecen . The hamlet was once the Vorwerk of the estate in Großkochberg .

In 1949 a school for the district of Rudolstadt was built in the village , which is now a listed building.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Kuhfraß was incorporated.

In 1976 a dairy cattle facility for 2000 cattle was built on the eastern edge of the village.
