Schmieden is a district of the municipality Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia .
Geography and geology
Coming from Zeutsch , the Hexengrund valley ends behind Schmieden and merges into a plateau near Großkochberg . Both to the north and south and on the transition to the plateau, the hills are wooded. Behind and around Schmieden, the hallway is heavily cropped . There is grassland and guarding . All locations are probably far from the groundwater and there is weathered shell limestone . There is more forest than usable area. Landesstraße 2391 leads from Zeutsch to Schmieden and connects this area with the other places. The corridor of the northern desert of Spaal belongs to forges.
Neighboring towns are Engerda to the southeast , Kleinkochberg to the south , Teichel to the west and Kottenhain to the north .

The hamlet of Schmieden was first mentioned on February 16, 1084.
Schmieden was part of the Uhlstädt administrative community from 1991 to 2002 . When this was dissolved on July 1, 2002, it formed the unified community of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel with ten other communities.
