Rückersdorf is a district of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in the Free State of Thuringia . It is located southeast of Uhlstädt, embedded in a mountain valley of the Hinteren Heide on the right bank of the Saale .

Geography and history

The valley in which the village is located is bordered by the Schafsberg in the east and by the Krossener Berg in the west. It represents a longitudinal valley of the Saale valley, which connects to the north. In the south, near the Waldbad, the Rückersdorfer Valley divides into two side valleys, the Entenstall and Talschlinge .

The northern end of the village, known colloquially as "Unterdorf", is near the Saale on the edge of the Saale valley. A road winding up the mountain, which leads through the Rückersdorfer valley, connects it with the "Oberdorf".

Rückersdorf was mentioned in a document for the first time in 1457. It is believed that the village name derives from a settler named Rüdiger. The place is located in a Germanic-Slavic-Early German settlement area, therefore the corridor is called "Zedlitz".

In 1719 a municipal code for Rückersdorf was passed. In 1870/71 17 men from Uhlstädt, Oberkrossen and Rückersdorf were drafted into military service, two of them were wounded. In 1885 Rückersdorf had a population of 124.

In 1922, the community was incorporated into Uhlstädt with the towns of Oberkrossen and Kleinkrossen .

In 1984 the rafting association Uhlstädt, Oberkrossen and Rückersdorf was founded. Its roots go back to the original "Verein der Lohnflößer" from 1874, the purpose of which was to support all members of the association who had an accident, became ill or unable to work. Funeral benefits were also paid to the members' surviving dependents. The club included 11 raftsmen from Rückersdorf, 11 from Uhlstädt, 9 from Oberkrossen, 5 from Kleinekrossen and 3 from Zeutsch.

Through the voluntary amalgamation of several communities, the community Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel emerged on July 1, 2002 from the community Uhlstädt , to which Rückersdorf now belongs.

Economy and Infrastructure

The place is mainly characterized by agriculture and forestry, the rafting , which was operated in the past, only plays a subordinate role today. However, every two years there is a rafting festival on the Rückersdorfer Anger. Organized since 1987, this festival is a tradition and is intended to remind of the old customs of the raftsmen . In 2007, around 8,000 visitors were counted on the three festival days. In addition, since 1989 there has been the rafting museum in the hall of the former raftsman restaurant "Linde" .

At the entrance to the village, next to a body and paint shop, you will find the sports field where the leisure club “Heidelbeere Rückersdorf” plays. The annual "Blossom Festival" has been taking place there for a number of years, where there is always a large football tournament and various leisure clubs compete against each other.

Forest pool

The town with 145 inhabitants is best known in the area for its forest pool. It is located on the outskirts at the end of the valley and has an outdoor pool with a non-swimmer area, a paddling pool and a nudist area. Also, table tennis and beach volleyball are possible on the grounds of the forest bath Rückersdorf. The outdoor pool was built in the 1960s. The grand opening took place on July 30, 1967, and the following summer there was the first bathing festival. The former water preheating basin is now used for fish farming.

Hiking trails

In addition, the place is the starting and ending point for numerous hiking trails. From this nature reserve "Uhlstädter Heide", which covers an area of approx. 6183 ha, paths u. a. to Friedebach , Weißbach or Oberwellenborn . The best known is the hiking trail over the "Saalleitenhütte" to the church ruin Töpfersdorf. The path leads into a damp and poorly accessible valley. In the 12th century, Töpfersdorf was founded in this secluded place by the Lobdeburgers. In the 16th century, however, only two houses were still occupied to supervise forests and land. The church is mentioned for the first time around 1463. Today, however, only the up to four meters high surrounding walls and remains of the church have been preserved. The church was about 23.5 m long, 9 m wide and had a square tower at the north end. The partially preserved pointed arch windows still show artfully designed masonry today.

Climate and weather events

Normal temperatures range from −10 ° C in winter to +32 ° C in summer. However, temperatures from −25 ° C to +40 ° C were also measured.

It is known from the year 1876 that a severe storm hit the heather and knocked over the strongest tree at the time (the fir on the forest house).

Since the 1990s there has been an increase in moisture in the valley, which has resulted in only around 25% of the original fruit trees remaining today. On July 12, 2010, a tornado swept over Rückersdorf and its forests and devastated around 2500 square meters of forest. After a freezing rain in early December 2010, a total of 50 cm of snow followed by December 24, 2010, the highest value ever measured in the valley. As a result, more trees fell and around 1000 square meters of forest were destroyed. At the beginning of January 2011 a strong thaw led to the formation of a torrent in the Entenstall valley , the water of which the village pond by the outdoor pool could no longer withstand. As a result, the dam broke and the road through the "Oberdorf" was devastated with mud and rubble.
