Mötzelbach is a district of the municipality of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .
Geography and geology
Mötzelbach is 379 m above sea level north of Etzelbach on a high plateau of the southeast Thuringian red sandstone-Muschelkalplatte. The slopes emerging from the Saale valley belong to the geological formation of the red sandstone . Shell limestone is deposited on the sandstone of the plateau . These locations are distant from groundwater . Mötzelbach can be reached both from Etzelbach and from Kirchhasel via Oberhasel on constantly increasing transport connections. In the past, a hiking trail led from the village's Angerteich to Rudolstadt. Before that it was the way of the market women. There is forest around the boundary of the village.
The Benndorf desert belongs to the district.
history
On January 16, 1194, Mötzelbach was first mentioned in a document. The highest point in the village is built on with the church. There are three stone crosses, known as Swedish crosses, at the Angerteich.
Village life is still a tradition in the village. This is a basis for vacation in the country. The Hexhaus as a holiday and study house is another example.
The agricultural and forestry village has also shaped the development of the economy in East Germany. After the fall of the Wall, new ways were found.
