Unterhasel is a part of the municipality Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia .

history

Unterhasel was first mentioned in a document on April 28, 1417. Already on October 25, 775, according to Kahl, the first documentary mention of Hasel , which could refer to Kirch-, Ober- or Unterhasel. It can be assumed that Kirchhasel is the oldest settlement as the seat of the parish office and that Oberhasel and Unterhasel emerged later as expansion settlements. Unterhasel is one of the oldest farming and fishing villages on the Saale . It is 185 m above sea level and thus about 5 m above the critical level of a possible hall flood. Until 1918 the place belonged like Kirchhasel to the sovereignty of the principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

location

At the time the hamlet was founded, natural conditions still prevailed in the Saale valley and the surrounding area, and the settlement of fishermen and farmers was usually problem-free. In 1718 155 people lived in 23 houses. Then came the influence of industrialization: the Saal-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft opened up the Saale valley and building materials (gravel) and land were needed for the traffic routes. Forest and alluvial lands were made arable. The Saale got a different course and on March 26, 1857 most of the residents moved to Kirchhasel . In 2011 there are still 3 farmsteads and 6 residents are still on site. You now live right in the center of the economy around Rudolstadt at the newly opened landing stage for the tourist rafting service on the Saale: from here the rafts to Weißen and Uhlstädt start .
