Engerda is a district of the municipality of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia (Germany) with around 320 inhabitants.

Engerda is in Hexengrund and on Landesstraße 2391. To the right and left of the street in Grund are mostly wooded slopes and hills up to the Ilm-Saale-Platte . The Engerda dam is located near the village. The landmark of Engerda is the linden tree that stands above the village on the road to Schmieden .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 876 as Engride , making it the oldest place in the municipality. From 1991 to 2002 the place belonged to the administrative community Uhlstädt . When this was dissolved on July 1, 2002, Dorndorf formed the new municipality of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel with ten other municipalities.

Tourism and associations

The place offers a variety of excursion options - whether the Engerda reservoir in the southeast, the Luisenturm in the west, the historic Hohe Straße on the ridge in the north or the ruins of the Schauenforst castle in the east. The Hexengrund Triathlon has been taking place around Engerda since 2009.

The highlights of the year are the cherry festival, the fair and the carnival events. In addition, the village offers a lively club life.
