Claus Clausen
Claus Clausen (born August 15, 1899 in Eisenach , † November 25, 1989 in Essen ), a son of the writer Ernst Clausen (1861-1912), was a German theater and film actor.
Life and work
Still a soldier in World War I, he made his debut at the National Theater Weimar after graduating from high school in 1920 . In 1924 it went to the Reussische Theater in Gera , in 1927 to the Schauspielhaus Zurich , in 1929 to the Berliner Volksbühne and in 1930 to the Neue Schauspielhaus in Königsberg . Clausen's first film role was the Lieutenant in Western Front in 1930, directed by Georg Wilhelm Pabst . In 1933 the film was banned by the National Socialists . In the same year Clausen returned to Berlin and played there until 1938 at the Deutsches Theater and the State Theater , then until 1944 at the Schillertheater . From 1949 he also directed, among others at the Berlin Hebbeltheater in Berlin. He then worked on German theaters and summer stages, for example in Bochum, Bonn, Essen, Hanover, Wunsiedel and Wuppertal.
