Location of Kottenhain in Thuringia

Kottenhain is a district of the city of Blankenhain in the Weimarer Land district , Thuringia .

Geography and geology

The former Gut Kottenhain is 3.5 km from Blankenhain. The district is located at an average height of 441 m above sea level on the second floor of a plateau on a north slope on shallow, stony limestone soil remote from the groundwater , which also has little retention capacity. The place is also peripheral from Alt / Neudörnfeld , Lengefeld and Wittersroda . With a local connecting road, however, the connection to the federal road 85 and state road 2309 is given. Neighboring villages are Lotschen and Drößnitz .

history

Wolfgang Kahl records May 14th 1366 as the first documentary mention of the hamlet / estate. Around 1500 the hamlet fell desolate. In 1573 the village was again an estate and a sheep farm . There was even a church , it was discovered later during demolition work. In 1582 a vineyard was established on the estate's land. In 1839 the estate was run as a chamber estate . 1945–1955 the property was owned by the Weimar district , then it had to be taken over by VEG Neudörnfeld.

The old manor

There are still 13 buildings without a village arrangement on a 4.6 hectare fenced property. Structural remains from the 19th century are still there. This property is surrounded by fields and a wood to the west. The place is called a settlement desert, but the fields are cultivated. In 1992 the last resident left the place. The Treuhand-Liegenschafts-Gesellschaft was unable to sell the property . In 1996, Kottenhain GbR applied for the property that it had received for supervision.
