Drößnitz is a district of the city of Blankenhain in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia .
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1350. Its center is outlined by the village pond and the club house, the central meeting point of the village. The cultural highlights each year are the village festival in July and the traditional fair in November, but the village community is also otherwise involved in numerous projects such as children's parties and various sporting activities.
On September 2, 1995 Drößnitz was incorporated into Blankenhain.
In June 2005, some scenes for the movie Elementary Particles were shot in the old rectory.
