The church

The Protestant Lorenzkirche , the village church in the Drößnitz district of the city of Blankenhain in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia , stands in the western part of the village with its churchyard and trees that characterize the village.

history

A church in Drößnitz was first mentioned in 1534 . A chapel was also mentioned. The church building, rebuilt after 1866, has a classical interior.

The church has an epitaph and a baptismal angel from an earlier baroque church that stood in the same place. The Romanesque baptismal font comes from the Laurentius pilgrimage church of the former Augustinian monastery in Pfarrkeßlar .
