geography
The main road in 1060 leads to the east at the village end of Apolda coming to Rudolstadt over. Blankenhain is only five kilometers from the village. It is about ten kilometers to the federal motorway 4 with the Magdala junction . The hallway is heavily cropped . A wooded hill extends south-east to south-west in the corridor. The Magdel flows through the valley , the banks of which are mostly overgrown with bushes and trees.
history
The Franconian settlement was first mentioned on June 24, 1227. The settlement is said to have taken place between the 6th and 8th centuries. During excavations, Franconian grave crosses and fertility symbols from pre-Franconian times were found. Cultic fires were once guarded on the watch over the village. The ownership of the village often changed. Agriculture shaped the place then and now.
On July 1, 1950 Obersynderstedt was incorporated into the municipality of Loßnitz .
church
During excavations inside the church, two small Franconian grave crosses so-called “crow's feet” were found, as well as a very old incised drawing when plastering the north side, which represents a pagan fertility symbol from pre-Franconian times. The Christians later carved a cross and thus "Christianized" it. The church belonged to the parish of Niedersynderstedt. In the church you can find an old inscription in a window on the south side with the year 1605. The bells are from the year 1454. The church building got its present shape from 1709 to 1712 through a baroque reconstruction and ultimately through a comprehensive restoration in the years 1981 to 1982.
