Meaning of the Easter fertility symbols
Hare
The hare was a symbol of fertility among the Romans. One reason is that a female rabbit has cubs about three to four times a year. In the German-speaking area, the rabbit has been known as the “Easter Bote” since the beginning of the 20th century and is intended to reflect the joy of spring thanks to its symbolism.
egg
The egg is revered in many countries as a symbol of fertility and as a sign of ever-returning life. Around 5000 years ago, the Chinese gave away brightly colored eggs at the beginning of spring. The ancient Egyptians and the Teutons also knew the egg as a symbol of fertility. In the Christian sense, the egg is the symbol for the resurrection. Just as Jesus opened the rock tomb when he was resurrected, new life breaks through the eggshell when it hatches. Red colored eggs are already known from China. Red is the color of life, the sun, but also the color of the blood that Jesus shed for humanity.
abuse
Example: swastika
The Indian symbol of fertility, the swastika, was mirrored as a swastika by the National Socialists and abused as a symbol for their rule.
