history

The round village established by Slavs was first mentioned on October 28, 1285. In the 13th-16th In the 19th century, the residents of the villages of Spaal, Gabitz and Wüstenbruch moved to Neckeroda. The old village places fell desolate. Ensemble protection has existed for Neckeroda since 1993 .

On January 1, 1997, the place changed from the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt to the district of Weimarer Land and was incorporated into Blankenhain.

Attractions

  • The Protestant village church has a weather vane from 1606 on its tower and could be reminiscent of a late Gothic tower. But the church has a Romanesque core. In the cemetery there is a grave slab in memory of three unknown soldiers who died here at the end of the war in 1945. The parish belongs to the parish Blankenhain II.
The guard linden tree
  • The ' guard' : At the highest point of the district there is a linden tree surrounded by the foot. This place is called the guard because there was a lookout and guard point to prevent damage to the village in times of war. From here a connection to the corridor system of the place should have existed. It is probably also a historical court square.
  • The corridor system consists of underground corridors that probably ran under the village in a star shape and connected important buildings. The corridors are partly buried today, but can still be seen in some cellars.
  • After the Thirty Years War, the residents built a rural fortification . This system still exists to 75% and is called nature protection wall and popularly known as a hedge . The outer wall is 4 m wide and 2 m high, the inner 3 m wide and 1.20 m high. The wall consists of a stone wall and is planted with a drawbridge.

Club life

There are several associations that promote public and cultural life. Particularly noteworthy is the Thuringian Färbedorf Neckeroda eV association , which was founded in 1999 and has set itself the goal of maintaining and promoting the historical tradition of textile dyeing with suitable dye plants. The highlight of the club and the public is the annual dye and craft festival on the last Saturday in August, where dyers from all over Germany and partly from the rest of Europe show their craftsmanship. At this festival, the lovingly restored courtyards also open their gates to visitors. Other craftsmen also show their skills, e.g. B. potters, basket makers, rope makers and spinning rooms.
