The church

The Protestant village church Neckeroda in the district Neckeroda the city Blankenhain in the district Weimarer Land in Thuringia is located in the village. The federal highway 85 leads past. The square on which the church stands is surrounded by ramparts, hedges and trees. An allegedly once existing underground corridor system is reminiscent of a medieval fortification .

history

A small round apse has been preserved on the east side of the church . The church has not changed significantly over the centuries. A pointed helmet sits on the gable roof in the east, slightly higher than the ridge of the nave in the rectangular storey that has been provided with slats . The weather vane with the year 1606 probably shows the year the tower was built.

Nave and tower

The tower forms a rectangle with the nave . Inside too. To the east is the apse with a stone hemisphere and a sacrament niche . Traces on the nave point to a lower house of worship in earlier times. It was likely increased by 1600. Hence the number 1606. The windows are arranged irregularly. An arched window is walled up in the south.

Inside a baroque , richly decorated pulpit . Behind the altar two posts with twisted columns, carved volutes , flowers and figures of angels .

The organ was built in 1870 by the organ builder Förtsch from Blankenhain.

The old bells were melted down during World War I , and three new ones were purchased in 1925.
