Wittersroda is a district of the city of Blankenhain in the Weimarer Land district , Thuringia .

The hamlet-like village lies at the western end of the Reinstädter Grund and is connected by a local road with the state road 1062 and to Lengefeld . The hilly valley location is mostly forested on both sides on and on the slopes and their hills. The valley areas are overgrown with grassland. The place is 7 km away from Blankenhain .

history

Wolfgang Kahl proves that the place was first mentioned in a document on August 25, 1311. Alternatively it is mentioned 1633. On February 17, 1965, the place was incorporated into Drößnitz . Wittersroda belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office Eckartsberga as an exclave until 1815 and came to the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach after its assignment, which was decided at the Congress of Vienna .

Village church

In addition to the services, the small church is used as a room for concerts. Cultural events are also held in the inn.

Village linden

The mighty old tree stands west of the town on the road to Lengefeld, in front of a cattle shed. The linden tree has a hollow, partly split trunk with a circumference of approx. 7 meters. The age of the striking tree veteran is estimated to be 500–600 years.
